J&K UT Administration will provide 5 marla land to the 17,000 PMAY (G) eligible landless tribal beneficiaries: LG Sinha

#JAMMU: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha addressed the ‘Janjatiya Gaurav Saptah’ celebration at the Convention Centre, Jammu.

The iconic week event is dedicated to the memory of Bhagwan Birsa Munda, brave tribal freedom fighters and to celebrate and commemorate the glorious history of tribal communities, culture and achievements.

In his address, the Lt Governor paid tributes to Bhagwan Birsa Munda and other great tribal personalities and lauded the significant contribution of tribal communities in nation-building.

 He announced that the J&K UT Administration will provide 5 marla land to the 17,000 Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (G) eligible landless tribal beneficiaries in coming days.

“It is our topmost priority to safeguard the rights and benefits extended to all the tribal communities. The administration is committed to ensure that the tribal population in Jammu Kashmir enjoy equitable benefits of growth,” he said.

At the Janjatiya Gaurav Saptah event, the Lt Governor highlighted the efforts of the UT Administration for welfare and development of tribal communities over the past few years.

Community and Individual Forest Rights, Self Help Groups for forest produce, support to new enterprises had transformative impact in tribal areas. J&K Administration has taken concrete steps for economic empowerment of tribal communities through Sheep farms, Dairy units and Tri-Wool Project, he said.

We have expanded and made educational opportunities accessible to all tribal communities including migratory population. Construction of new tribal hostels, smart schools, Eklavya, coaching facilities for competitive exams, skill development programmes have started showing results in overall development, the Lt Governor added.

The Lt Governor reiterated the commitment of the UT Administration to achieve saturation of government flagship schemes and reach out to all targeted beneficiaries in a time-bound manner.

“Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra, under the guidance of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, will ensure no tribal family is left out of the journey of development and progress,” he said.

The Lt Governor also appreciated the artists for promoting the rich cultural heritage of tribal communities.

 Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar, Advisor to Lt Governor; Dr Arun Kumar Mehta, Chief Secretary;  Anand Jain, IGP Jammu;  Sachin Kumar Vaishya, Deputy Commissioner Jammu; senior officers and members of Tribal communities in large numbers were present.

Royal Bengal Tiger pair to roar in Jambu Zoo

#JAMMU: A pair of Royal Bengal Tiger, the National Animal, aged 9 years, is reaching Jambu Zoo today from Aringar Anna Zoological Park, Chennai, Tamil Nadu.

Pertinently, the tiger pair has been brought here in exchange of a pair of Himalayan Black Bear from Jambu Zoo to Aringar Anna Zoological Park as part of an animal exchange programme.

The Royal Bengal Tiger is one of the largest, fiercest, and most powerful member of Big Cat family. Every tiger has a distinct strip pattern which makes them different from other tigers and makes it easy in counting them during the tiger census. There are around 3,167 tigers in India’s forests, which is more than 75% of the global Tiger population as per the 2023 Tiger Census. .

The Tiger pair will be housed in a naturalistic and enriched enclosure having a space of more than 4500 square meter as per the Central Zoo Authority’s norms with water ponds, machans, heating and ventilation facility for extreme weather condition. The Tigers will will be kept under quarantine for a week’s time and thereafter will be released in the paddock for public display.

Royal Bengal Tiger will be an additional attraction in the family of Jambu Zoo and a great delight for the public especially children, wildlife enthusiasts and other the visitors.

Kedarnath, Yamunotri Temples Close For Winter Season

#UTTRAKHAND: The portals of #Kedarnath and #Yamunotri temples in the Garhwal Himalayas were closed for the winter season on Wednesday.

The doors of Kedarnath, dedicated to Lord Shiva, were closed at 8:30 am and those of Yamunotri at 11:57 am.

36 killed in major bus mishap in J&K’s Doda; L-G Manoj Sinha extends condolences

#DODA: As many as 36 passengers were killed after a bus carrying them plunged around 200 meters down a steep slope near the Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir. The incident occurred when the bus travelling from #Kishtwar to #Jammu veered off the road and plunged down the steep slope near #Trungal in the Assar area.

The bus was ferrying 55 passengers.

The local authorities, including the police and rescue teams, rushed to the scene to initiate rescue operations and assess the extent of the tragedy. Preliminary reports from the Police Control Room in Doda suggest that the death toll could be as high as 20 or even more.

“A passenger bus, on its way from Kishtwar to Jammu, veered off the roads and fell down 200 meters on another road near Trungal in the Assar area of Doda district. Ten passengers are dead and the toll is likely to go up,” said a police officer at police control room Doda.

“The injured have been shifted to nearby health facilities for immediate treatment,” the officials further said.

Lt Governor Presents Certificate of Excellence Award to Para Archers Sheetal Devi, Rakesh Kumar and Coach, Abhilasha Choudhary

He also honored the Para Archers and Coach, Abhilasha Choudhary with Certificate of Excellence. Dr Mandeep Kumar Bhandari, Principal Secretary to Lt Governor, Sh Anshul Garg, CEO, SMVDSB also graced the occasion.

While Interacting with the prodigious Para Archers, the Lt Governor said their outstanding performance at 4th Asian Para Games held in Hangzhou, China have inspired the youth and the entire Union Territory is proud of them for bringing glory to the nation.

The Lt Governor said the strong winner’s instinct of Sheetal and Rakesh will popularize robust sports culture in J&K.

The Lt Governor also appreciated efforts of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, coaches, support staff of Academy for remarkable contribution to promotion of sports in the Union Territory.

Lt Governor Manoj Sinha, Maharashtra Chief Minister unveils the statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji at Kupwara

#SRINAGAR: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha along with Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Eknath Shinde and Maharashtra’s Cultural Affairs Minister  Sudhir Mungantiwar unveiled the statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj at Kupwara, today.

In his address, the Lt Governor congratulated the ‘Amhi Punekar’ and 41 Rashtriya Rifles of Indian Army for historic initiative.

He said the statue of Great Shivaji will be a source of inspiration for people and the bravehearts of the army.

Paying homage to the great warrior and founder of Swarajya, the Lt Governor said, Shivaji was a born leader, who scripted a new history of India through his mesmerizing victory against the enemy.

Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj was also fountainhead of high standards of morality, right conduct and respecter of all religions and sects. Youth must follow his ideas and ideals and selflessly serve the poor and weaker sections of society and contribute to nation-building, he added.

By unleashing his military genius and moral force, Shivaji mobilized millions of Indians and achieved sovereignty for Maratha empire. His universal and eternal values continue to be relevant today and guiding us on the path of social equality and peaceful co-existence, the Lt Governor said.

He further called for celebrating the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj festival in Kupwara on 7th of November every year.

Eknath Shinde, Chief Minister of Maharashtra said, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj is an inspiration for every Indian.

Maharashtra has a great tradition of sacrifice and bravery. It is indeed commendable that this statue is being erected at Kupwara in the same year as the 350th anniversary of the coronation of Chhatrapati Shivaji, he said.

Sudhir Mungantiwar, Cultural Affairs Minister Maharashtra, speaking on the occasion paid homage to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. He said the unveiling of Shivaji’s statue is the proudest moment of his life.

Major General Girish Kalia, GOC, Vajr Division presented the National Flags handmade by women of Kupwara to the dignitaries.

Earlier, the Lt Governor paid tributes to the  bravehearts of Indian Army and laid wreath at Vajr War Memorial, HQ 28 Infantry Division in Kupwara.

APS Akhnoor lift finals of Northern Command Inter-APS volleyball championship 2023

Lt Governor launches Srinagar Smart City’s 100 Electric Buses under Srinagar Electric Bus Project

#SRINAGAR: Lieutenant Governor #Manoj Sinha launched the Srinagar Smart City’s 100 Electric Buses under Srinagar Electric Bus Project and flagged off a fleet of 75 E-Buses at Nishat Bus Terminal, today.

E-buses will be plying on 15 intra-city routes and 2 inter-city routes and will be running a minimum of 200 KM per day from 8 AM to 8 PM.

In his address, the Lt Governor congratulated the Srinagar Smart City Limited and the residents of Srinagar and adjoining districts on the occasion.

“Smart mobility to optimize transportation services for harmonious balance with ecology is our top priority. The addition of 100 e-buses is a big leap to achieve Carbon Neutrality as per the vision of Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” the Lt Governor said.

He said the Srinagar Smart City Limited is translating ‘modal shift’ concept into reality through integrated approach to provide smooth transportation to people and contributing in sustainability of society.

The Lt Governor said the e-buses dedicated to the people today will ensure that daily commuters and office goers have access to reliable, affordable, sustainable and safe public transport system for Srinagar city and the connected districts.

He directed the officials to ensure the dedicated Charging stations for the e-buses remain functional round the year.

At the launch ceremony, the Lt Governor expressed gratitude to the Central Government for the support and assistance in improving the urban transport in the UT. Soon the dream of Metro Rail in Srinagar and Jammu will become a reality, he said.

The e-buses are equipped with Universal Access and HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) system, on-board vehicle tracking system, CCTV and emergency stop facility.

A dedicated Mobile app and online ticket payment facility have been developed for the convenience of the passengers. All the buses are integrated with Srinagar Smart City’s Integrated Command & Control Centre.

A bus depot is coming up at Pantha Chowk and charging sub-stations have been developed for smooth operation of e-buses.
