Postal Ballot Voting for government employees begins at Kupwara

479 Votes casted on first day

#KUPWARA: Postal ballot voting for government employees of Kupwara district proceeded smoothly, Wednesday, on the first day, reflecting the efficient conduct of the electoral process, with officials of essential service duties seamlessly exercising their voting rights at the Postal Voting Centre established at DC Office Complex Kupwara.

As many as 479 employees from different departments, who opted for the postal ballot voting, availed the facility today and casted their votes at the two booths of the Postal Voting Centre.

In total, 4147 government employees will exercise their franchise in the district through postal ballot from May 15 to May 17, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

The employees today stood in queues enthusiastically to wait for their turn  to cast their votes.

District Election Office, Kupwara has ensured that all necessary arrangements were in place for employees who applied for postal ballots through Form-12.

The postal ballot initiative provided a convenient and accessible avenue for employees to cast their votes who are associated with essential services. It has emerged as a beacon of accessibility, allowing employees to fulfill their civic duty without the constraints of physical presence at polling stations.

Meanwhile home voting  for voters, aged 85-years Plus  and specially abled voters  continued on second day today covering far-off areas of all the six assembly segments of Kupwara district with Poll parties along with voting facilities walking extra mile to reach at the doorstep.

Lt Governor chairs review meeting of Social Welfare Department

#SRINAGAR: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha today chaired a meeting to review the functioning of the Social Welfare Department.

The meeting was attended by Santosh D Vaidya, Principal Secretary, Finance Department; Dr Mandeep Kumar Bhandari, Principal Secretary to Lt Governor; Ms Sheetal Nanda, Commissioner Secretary, Social Welfare; Administrative Secretaries, Heads of Departments and senior officials.

The Lt Governor took appraisal of the saturation of social welfare schemes. He directed the officials to make dedicated efforts to ensure 100% Aadhaar seeding of the beneficiaries under various schemes.

While reviewing the performance of Poshan Abhiyaan, the Lt Governor directed to conduct a study to assess the impact of the scheme on the ground.

He also reviewed the performance of Anganwadi Centres and directed the officers to ensure that all Anganwadi Centres are fully functional with all the facilities in place.

The Lt Governor emphasized the role of Anganwadi Centres as a hub for health, nutrition, early learning, responsive care, security and safety of children. He said the effective and efficient functioning of Anganwadi Centres is key to child development.

He also observed that villages and cities should be made malnutrition and anaemia free and to also focus on aadhaar seeding on Poshan tracker and widening the scope of corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).

Asserting that Poshan Maah and Poshan Pakhwada are two important components of Poshan Abhiyaan, the Lt Governor said that there is a need to further increase the IEC activities so that benefits reach all intended beneficiaries. He said the administration’s focus should be on socially, educationally and economically marginalized sections of the society, empowerment of women and also discussed steps required to create an environment so they can realise their full potential.

The meeting further reviewed the performance of Nanhe Kadam, women assisted under Sankalp, One Stop Centre. He also called for collective efforts in the fight against drug menace.

Property of 04 terrorist handlers operating from Pak attached in Handwara

#SRINAGAR: Acting tough against the wanted local terrorists based in Pakistan, Jammu and Kashmir Police has launched a special drive against the absconders/ wanted terrorists and as part of this drive properties of 04 terrorist handlers who were declared as proclaimed offenders by the orders of Hon’ble Court was attached on the orders of Hon’ble Court, by Police District Handwara.

These absconders/proclaimed offenders have exfiltrated to Pakistan or Pakistan Occupied Kashmir(PoK) in 1990s or in first after 2000 and are presntly in the Pakistan or PoK. Since then, they are continuously involved in handling terrorists and reviving and spreading terrorism in Handwara and other areas of Jammu and Kashmir.

Folliwing the prescribed procedure (1)land measuring ten (10) Marlas at Kralgund belonging to proclaimed offender Mumtaz Ahmad Khwaja Son of Mohammad Subhan Khwaja resident of Kralgund,(2) land measuring 16-3/4 Marlas belonging to Lateef Ahmad Bhat Son of Abdul Rehman Bhat Resident of Badra Payeen,(3) land measuring 01 Kanal and 2 Marlas at Ashipora belonging to Mushtaq Ahmad Mir Son of Mohammad Sultan Mir Resident of Ashpora and(4) land measuring 01 Kanal at Khaipora belonging to Ghulam Nabi Ganai son of Ghulam Rasool Ganai resident of Khaipora, Qaziabad was attached by Police District Handwara on the orders from Hon’ble Court

These terrorists are also involved in different cases of Police District Handwara and are actively trying to revive and run the terror ecosystem in Jammu and Kashmir.

Under the leadership of Hon’ble PM, there is a new dynamism in infrastructure development.

  • Z-Morh tunnel worth more than Rs 2378 cr will be completed by June this year.
  • Work on the Zojila tunnel project worth Rs 4500 cr is going on which will provide round the year connectivity to Sonamarg.
  • Phase-I of Srinagar Ring Road at a cost of Rs 2920 cr will be completed in the month of August.
  • Phase-II worth Rs 961 cr of Srinagar Ring Road to be completed by June 2025.
  • The work on Delhi-Amritsar-Katra expressway costing Rs 10,995 cr is expected to be completed in the month of November 2025.
  • Qazigund-Shopian-Pulmama- Srinagar Nh444 will be constructed at a cost of Rs 849 cr.
  • Khanabal-Phalgam-Chandanwari NH501; New highway of Poonch-Uri Road, Baramulla- Kupwara- Tangdhar NH701 have been approved.
  • Work on Srinagar bypass, Sanatnagar, Bemina and Nowgam Flyovers worth Rs 132 cr is going on.
  • In Kashmir valley only, Rs 26,300 cr worth highway and tunnel projects are going on.
  • Under PMGSY, in the last 4 years, we have been successful in constructing road length of 4926 km at a cost of Rs 3440 cr and connecting every village with 500 population with road.
  • Rs 1000 cr worth projects under Srinagar Smart City and 428 projects under NABARD costing Rs 2531 cr are ongoing.

In last 4 years, more than 36000 recruitments for government jobs have been made in a transparent manner.

JK Home Deptt refers 4022 vacancies of J&K Police Constables to SSB

#JAMMU: The Home Department has referred 4022 vacancies of Constables in J&K Police, to Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB), as a reaffirmation of government’s commitment towards strengthening the law enforcement agencies and ensuring the safety and security of people of the region.

Pertinently, the posts of Constable in J&K Police were last advertised in the year 2019 and now about 4022 posts are being advertised, which shall result in strengthening of ranks of constabulary in the vital security force unit of the UT Police. This will greatly help in reinforcing the capability of law enforcement to effectively address various security challenges and maintain peace and order.

This initiative will not only contribute towards enhancing the overall security apparatus of Jammu & Kashmir, but shall also open doors of employment opportunities for the local youth. The J&K Police was feeling the strain of manpower crunch stemming from the absence of recruitment at Constable level, which was affecting the operational readiness and delivery mechanism.

The recruitment process will be conducted soon by the Services Selection Board, for the aspiring candidates to apply and participate in the upcoming recruitment process. This also reflects government’s resolve of generating employment opportunities for local youth.

As per break up of these 4022 posts, there are 1689 vacancies of Constables (J&K Armed/IRP), 100 of Constable SDRF, 502 of Constable (Telecom), 20 of Constable (Driver) and 22 posts of Constable (Photography) under the UT cadre while there are 1689 vacancies of Constable Executive Police in the divisional cadre including 1249 posts for Jammu and 440 posts for Kashmir.

AC restores ‘Waiting List’ provision for government recruitments

#JAMMU: Administrative Council (AC) which met here today under the Chairmanship of Manoj Sinha, Lieutenant Governor approved re-consideration of its earlier decision dated 07-09-2023 and restored provisions for drawing up of wait lists in recruitment to public services.

Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar, Advisor to the Lieutenant Governor; Atal Dulloo, Chief Secretary; Mandeep Kumar Bhandari, Principal Secretary to Lieutenant Governor attended the meeting.

The AC decided to withdraw the amendments made out in the J&K Civil Services Decentralization and Recruitment Rules, 2010 earlier in terms of S.O 496 of 2023, J&K, Appointment of Class-IV (Special Recruitment) Rules, 2020 vide S.O497 of 2023, J&K Combined Competitive Examination Rules, 2018 vide S.O498 of 2023 and also in the Business Regulations of JKPSC/JKSSB, and other rules/regulations in any other department/ service ab-initio.

It was also decided to grant one time exemption to recruiting agencies to draw up wait list within six months, for those select lists, which have been issued since earlier decision. However this shall be subject to the condition that such wait list(s) are drawn within validity period of the select list and resultant vacancies on account of non-joining of selected candidates have not been re-advertised.

The decision shall help in timely filing up of vacancies, with additional benefits such as avoidance of delays in re-referral of vacancies, reduction of time consumed in subsequent selections, and allow candidates to secure employment before attainment of upper-age limit.
