CS launches competitions on MyGov portal to mark ‘International Yoga Day’

#SRINAGAR: Chief Secretary, Atal Dulloo, today launched several online competitions for the citizens of Jammu and Kashmir on MyGov portal (https://jk.mygov.in/) to mark 10th International Yoga Day celebration to be observed on 21st June, 2024.

The competitions, themed ‘Yoga for Self and Society’, included yoga doodle challenge, essay writing, poster making and story-telling video contests. The competitions are live on the J&K MyGov portal and registration is open till June 30, 2024. The topper would be awarded with a cash prize of Rs 10,000, second with Rs. 8,000 and the third would get Rs 5.000. The interested participants can register and submit their entries on the MyGov portal.

In addition, the portal offers opportunity to the citizens to upload their selfies by June 30, 2024. In this regard, a custom frame has been designed to allow the citizens to capture their yoga selfie sharing moments of achievement, peace and self-discovery through Yoga, promoting a movement of wellness and self care.

While launching these competitions, the Chief Secretary asked the concerned for providing opportunity to maximum citizens including school children. He also exhorted upon the Deputy Commissioners to promote citizen involvement at the district level.

Accentuating the significance of Yoga, the Chief Secretary said that the ancient practice fosters mindfulness techniques that aid in relaxation as well as reducing stress and anxiety. “It improves physical, mental and spiritual health by balancing the body, mind and the spirit through postures (asanas), breathing techniques (pranayama), meditation and ethical guidelines.

“Yoga has now become an increasingly popular form of therapy, coping mechanism, and complementary treatment for mental health”, maintained the Chief Secretary.

He encouraged the people to overwhelmingly participate in the competitions to share the changes they have experienced by incorporating Yoga into their lives. He reiterated that these initiatives aim to inspire the citizens of Jammu and Kashmir to embrace Yoga for holistic well being and share their personal journeys, fostering a community united by health and harmony.

The Chief Secretary fervently appealed the participants to register and submit their entries on MyGov portal and join the celebration of International Yoga Day throughout the region.

Among others present on the occasion included Administrative Secretaries and HoDs of various departments, Deputy Commissioners and other officers.

Police release 4 terrorists’ sketch involved in Doda attacks

#DODA: The Jammu and Kashmir police on Wednesday released sketches of four terrorists involved in two attacks in #Doda district and announced a reward of Rs 20 lakh for information leading to their arrest.

On Tuesday terrorists fired on a joint checkpost of the 4 Rashtriya Rifles and police at Chattergalla in Bhaderwah while a search party in the Gandoh area of the district was attacked on Wednesday resulting in injuries to seven security personnel, including a policeman.
“Jammu and Kashmir Police has released sketches of four terrorists who are believed to be in the upper reaches of Bhaderwah, Thathri, Gandoh and carrying out terror-related activities,” a police spokesperson said.
A cash reward of Rs 5 lakh for information about each of the terrorists has also been announced, he said.
The Jammu and Kashmir Police appeals to the people to provide information about the presence and movement of these terrorists.
On Tuesday night, police released a sketch of a terrorist involved in the attack on a passenger bus in Reasi district and announced a Rs 20 lakh reward for information about him.

Lt Gen Dwivedi appointed as Army chief

NEW DELHI: Lt Gen Upendra Dwivedi will be the next chief of the Army staff succeeding incumbent Gen Manoj Pande, the government announced on Tuesday night, ending speculations on the key appointment.

Lt Gen Dwivedi, who has vast operational experience along the frontiers with China and Pakistan, is presently serving as Vice Chief of the Army Staff. Gen Pande will retire on June 30.

In appointing Lt Gen Dwivedi, the government followed the seniority principle.

CS reviews progress on solarization of government buildings

#SRINAGAR: Chief Secretary, Atal Dulloo, today held a meeting to review progress achieved, so far, in solarisation of government buildings here in the Union Territory.

The meeting was attended by Principal Secretary, Power Development Department, Principal Secretary, Finance, Commissioner Secretary, Science & Technology, Managing Director, JPDCL/KPDCL, Chief Executive Officer, JAKEDA, representatives from JaKeGA, NHPC besides other concerned officers while officers stationed at Jammu participated online.

Dulloo, while highlighting the significance of this prestigious project towards streamlining power scenerio, stressed on framing a vibrant implementation strategy in sync with availability of resources, manpower and allied capacities of the department. In this regard, he called for conducting a thorough analysis of all the available models adopted by different States and UTs so that the best suitable can be replicated in J&K. He also reviewed availability of funds with the department and the proportion to be pooled from other departments. He asked about the preparations being made on account of successful implementation of this ambitious scheme here besides assessing the status of tenders, data compilation and consultation with stakeholders.

The Chief Secretary asked for maintaining close coordination with the PDD Discoms for evacuation of surplus energy and realization of revenue indicating roles for each of the associated partners.

In his presentation, Commissioner Secretary, S&T, Saurabh Bhagat, detailed out the implementation strategy framed by the department for 100 percent solarization of government buildings in the UT. He also gave brief account about the institutional set-up put in place by the department to achieve this milestone professionally.

It was informed in the meeting that J&K Energy Development Agency, under Capex mode, shall be implementing 70 MW covering 8792 government buildings for which tendering process is underway. It was added that JAKEDA, under RESCO mode, is contemplating to execute 175 MW covering 7039 buildings for which tender document and PPA has been vetted by the Finance Department. Besides, it was informed that NHPC, under RESCO mode, shall be executing 63 MW of solar energy production covering 2838 buildings. It was said that NHPC has created SPV for the same. The agency is also covering all the central government buildings present in the UT.

The meeting was also apprised that out of the total of 32,016 government buildings, 22,494 had been found feasible for solarisation. Besides, 17 percent of buildings had already been taken-up and completed by JAKEDA, so far, making the UT among the top performers at national level.

Lt Governor visited hospitals to enquire about health of pilgrims, who were injured in Reasi terror attack

#KATRA: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha today met the pilgrims injured in the Reasi Terror Attack who are undergoing treatment at Government Medical College, Jammu and Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Narayana Superspeciality Hospital, Katra.

The Lieutenant Governor posted on X:

“Met the injured pilgrims at Government Medical College, Jammu & Narayana Hospital, Katra and wished them a speedy recovery. The entire nation stands firmly with the families of martyred pilgrims in this hour of grief”.

The team of doctors briefed the Lt Governor on the health condition of the injured and the medical facilities being extended to them.

The Lt Governor is closely monitoring the situation. He has directed the District and Hospital Administration for ensuring the best possible medical care and all necessary assistance to the affected families.

Earlier, the Lt Governor had approved an ex-gratia of Rs.10 lakh each for the next of kin of the pilgrims martyred and Rs. 50,000 each for those injured in Reasi terror attack.

NIA team reaches Reasi to coordinate with local Police

#REASI: An NIA team today reached Reasi district and is coordinating with local police probing into the terror attack on a passenger bus on Sunday evening that left 10 people dead and several injured.

The security forces have also launched a massive cordon and search operation to track down the terrorists responsible for the attack. Terrorists opened fire at the 53 seater bus, on its way from the Shiv Khori temple to the Mata Vaishno Devi shrine in Katra, causing it to veer off the road and fall into a deep gorge near the Teryath village of the Poni area in Reasi district on Sunday. The bus was ferrying pilgrims from Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Delhi.

Ten people, including a two year old boy from Rajasthan and a 14 year old from Uttar Pradesh, died in the attack. 41 people aged between three and 50 were injured in the ambush. Of them, 10 suffered gunshot injuries. As per eyewitnesses, two terrorists were there as of now.

A combing operation is underway in the area. Five teams have been formed to conduct the search operation in the area and the dense forest in and around the incident spot. Army and State Disaster Response Force are also present at the site. Drones are also being used to search the forest area.

LG strongly condemns terror attack at #Reasi; Direct officials to strict action

#SRINAGAR: The Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has strongly condemned the terror attack on a bus in Reasi today.

The Lieutenant Governor extended his deepest condolences to the family members of civilians who have lost their lives in the terror attack.

He said the Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi took stock of the situation and directed him to constantly monitor the situation and to ensure all possible assistance to the families.

The Lieutenant Governor posted on X:

“I strongly condemn the cowardly terror attack on a bus in Reasi. My condolences to the family members of the martyred civilians. Our security forces & JKP have launched a joint operation to hunt down the terrorists.

PM Shri Narendra Modi Ji took stock of the situation and has asked me to constantly monitor the situation. All those behind this heinous act will be punished soon. Hon’ble PM has also directed that all the injured are provided the best possible medical care & assistance”.

Div Com Jammu, ADGP visit Yatri Niwas Bhagwati Nagar to review preparations for Shri Amarnathji Yatra 2024

Ask for completion of renovation, up-gradation works by June 20

#JAMMU: Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Ramesh Kumar and Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Jammu, Anand Jain today visited Yatri Niwas Bhagwati Nagar to review the preparations for the Shri Amarnathji Yatra (SANJY)-2024.

Commissioner JMC, DIG JSK, Deputy Commissioner Jammu, SSP Jammu, SSP Security, SSP Traffic, senior officials from CRPF, Tourism, Health, PWD, Jal Shakti and other concerned were also present.

Reviewing the preparations at a meeting, the Div Com was apprised about the status of ongoing works being executed by different departments. The works pertained to face-lifting of entry gate, resurfacing of roads, leveling of parking ground, Whitewash, renovation of washrooms, repair works of ACs, fans, installation of lights, flood lights, and other works inside the Yatri Niwas for providing best facilities to Yatris.

The Div Com directed the concerned executive agencies to complete all works by June 20. He asked the senior officers of concerned departments and ADM Jammu to monitor daily progress of the works.

The Div Com also reviewed the Health Facilities, Prefab Toilet arrangements, Ticket counters, RFID counter, Langar Shed, installation of dustbins, provision of mobile sims, ATM and super bazaar facilities.

The PWD functionaries were asked to maintain smooth road surface around and inside the Yatri Niwas. The  Div Com further directed  for installing adequate signages, display boards with information regarding Yatri Niwas, railway Station, Bus Stand, registration and RFID counters for the ease and convenience of Yatris.

The Commissioner JMC was asked to ensure clearing of bushes and cleaning of Yatri Niwas and its surroundings and ample manpower for sanitation.

The Div Com further asked the executive agencies to increase  men and machinery for early completion of works.

Later, the Div Com and ADGP conducted spot inspection of the works and issued related directions.

Discussion was also held regarding the security arrangements. Directions were issued to ensure all the necessary preparation well within the given timeframe.
