In a major decision aimed at strengthening border security, West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari today announced that the state government will transfer land to the Border Security Force (BSF) for construction of fencing along the Bangladesh border.
The decision was taken during the first cabinet meeting held after the formation of the new government in West Bengal following the recent elections.
Addressing the media, the Chief Minister stated that the process of handing over land to the BSF will be completed within 45 days to facilitate speedy fencing work along the international border. He said the move is aimed at enhancing security and improving border management in sensitive areas adjoining Bangladesh.
The state government is expected to coordinate closely with the Border Security Force and other central agencies for the timely execution of the project.
